J. Adam Abram (Chair), Founder and CEO, James River Group Inc., Chapel Hill, N.C.

James River Group, Inc., an insurance holding company, is traded on the NASDAQ exchange. Abram also founded and served as CEO of Front Royal Inc., another insurance holding company which was sold to Argonaut Group Inc. in 2001. Abram’s civic involvement has included service on the board of directors of the Self Help Venture Fund, The North Carolina Economic Development Board, the Durham, N.C., Arts Council, the Triangle Community Foundation, and the Triangle Land Conservancy. Abram received an AB from Harvard University and is married to Rosalind Schaefer Abram (PhD ’80, clinical psychology). They have two sons: Benjamin, (E ’07, AB ’07), studied public policy and engineering at Duke; and Joshua attends Harvard.
