Richard A. BerzonBerzon is a social and behavioral scientist with extensive experience in identifying, measuring and analyzing health outcomes, specifically patient-reported outcomes. He has expertise across numerous therapeutic areas, including HIV/AIDS, oncology, and the respiratory and central nervous systems; and has integral knowledge of strategic product research and development methodology, and scientific and commercial management processes.

Berzon has undertaken primary health services and outcomes research; designed clinical trials and analyzed their data; and has held research management positions in industry and at the National Institutes of Health and the National Academy of Sciences. His current work at USAID is to develop and apply new epidemiological, clinical, demographic and statistical methods to outreach, monitor, evaluate and improve the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS-related health services delivery programs in developing countries. He is the author of more than 30 book chapters and peer reviewed journal articles, and serves on the International Advisory Board for the journal Quality of Life Research. He earned his doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
