The General Policy Option lets you pursue an internship in any geographic location.
Summer Internship:
Once you have located an appropriate sponsoring agency or organization, you must submit an Internship Approval Form to the Internship Office for approval.
Receiving Academic Credit/PPS 190:
Independent Study Internship: If you choose the General Policy Option you are not required to complete a pre-internship course or a summer seminar.
You may choose to receive academic credit for your internship by registering for PPS 190. PPS 190: Independent Internship for University Credit can by used by students who need or want University credit and/or students whose internship sponsors require academic credit.
You must receive permission to enroll in PPS 190 by submitting a request to the Undergraduate Studies Office, and making arrangements with the Director of Undergraduate Studies who may request that you find a PPS faculty member to supervise your independent study.
This course is graded pass/fail and must be elected for a full credit. In addition, the course cannot be used to meet the PPS upper level elective requirement; however it does count towards the 34 course credits required by the University for graduation. The requirements may vary from instructor to instructor but generally students write a long research paper.
Stipends:
No stipends are available for General Policy Options through the Public Policy Department.
