The PPS Majors Union Intern Coordinators

The PPS Majors Union elects two students to serve as Intern Coordinators for the summer program in Washington, DC . These students organize social activities for the entire group of students in Washington, guest speakers and interactions with students in internship programs from other universities.

We will compile an intern directory that will help you keep in touch with each other throughout the summer.

We'll Come Visit

During the summer, the Director of Career Services and Alumni Relations will make several site visits in the Washington , DC , area and other locations where interns are concentrated. She will not visit every site, but if you are interested in having a site visit, please call us early in the summer. During the site visits, we want to meet your supervisor and speak with both of you about the experience. These meetings can be helpful if there are changes needed in the work plan or other issues to be discussed.

Summer Receptions

Every summer, Duke sponsors receptions for interns and sponsors in Washington, DC . The receptions offer an opportunity to thank our sponsors and recognize their contributions to your education. During the summer, both you and your supervisor will receive an invitation to that reception.

Problems

If you experience problems during you internship, please call the Internship Director at 919-613-7383 or the Program Coordinator at 919-613-7311. You should call the office immediately, before problems grow out of control. We are here to act as a support for you, but we cannot help you if we do not know that you need help.

Having Fun

The PPS Majors Union publishes a Survival in Washington booklet for your benefit. We will notify you when those booklets are ready, and it will provide you with many details about food and fun in DC. Use this booklet, the Intern Coordinators and the city in general to have an exciting and rewarding summer.
