James D. Ewing Lecture on Ethics in Journalism
The DeWitt Wallace Center annually invites widely respected media leaders to present a The James D. Ewing Lecture at Duke University on issues associated with ethics and values in communications. The first lecture -- on the responsibilities that accompany a free press -- was given by Gene Patterson, the Pulitzer-Prize winning editor emeritus, former chair and CEO of The St. Petersburg Times. Others Ewing Lecturers include Tom Brokaw, Marvin Kalb, William Raspberry, Judy Woodruff, and Bob Woodward. The Ewing lectures are sponsored by James D. Ewing, who is publisher emeritus of The Keene Sentinel in New Hampshire and vice chairman of the Center for Foreign Journalists.
