Bruce Payne
Lecturer, Public Policy Studies

Bruce Payne has been a Lecturer in Public Policy Studies at the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy, Duke University, since 1973, and has taught at the Institute since it was founded in 1971. He is also Director of Leadership and the Arts in New York, an academic program offering Duke undergraduates a semester in New York City.

He is interested in leadership and ethics in government, business and voluntary organizations, and in relation to the arts, philanthropy and social change. He was founding director of the Sanford Institute's Hart Leadership Program and associate director of the Center for Documentary Photography (now known as the Center for Documentary Studies).

He has a master's degree in political science from Yale University.
