Introducing the DC Duke Hart Leadership Program (HLP) Alumni and Duke Alumni HLP Supporters Group:

Who we are, why we formed and how to get involved…

We are a network of Duke alumnae in the DC area who participated in the Terry Sanford Institute's Hart Leadership Program (HLP) by taking leadership courses in the public policy studies (PPS) program and/or participating in a community-based internship, fellowship program or project while at Duke University .  The Hart Leadership Program was founded in 1986. This Alumni group and these get-togethers are open to any Duke alumni interested in supporting the mission and principles of the Hart Leadership Program.

The goal of the DC Duke HLP Alumni Group is to foster connections across the generations, to provide personal and professional development opportunities, and to connect HLP professors, students and alumni through programs, events, discussions and small group gatherings that provide perspectives on various issues and current events that appeal to the vision of the HLP.

HLP's Interactive History

HLP Launches Interactive History
The Hart Leadership Program is proud to announce the launch of a new webspace dedicated to documenting, celebrating and preserving the vivid traditions and the stories of the program. Unveiled at the HLP 20th Anniversary in November, 2007, the Interactive History presents detailed chapters and timelines—including pictures and narrations—about the people, courses, projects, programs, and stories that make the Hart Leadership Program such a unique and special learning environment.  An integrated wiki feature serves as a complementary component to the website, and provides a forum for students, faculty, alumni, staff, and friends to change and augment the timeline information and to post their own stories, links, and photographs to further enhance the history and the spirit of the program.
