Health Care Access for Women

Eldad Elkenave was a 1999-2000 Hart Fellow in Israel supported by the International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life at Brandeis University. Living in an Arab-Israeli village, Eldad was able to combine his interests in anthropology and medicine as he investigated the cultural and communication barriers local village women encountered in getting health care, paying particular attention to the social role that the health clinics played in village life.

Edlad graduated from Brandeis University in 1999 with a degree in Anthropology. While at Brandeis, Eldad spent a summer in Cuamba, Mozambique, interning with Medical Care Development International's Child Survival and Community Health project. Before studying anthropology at Brandeis, Eldad served in the Israeli Defense Forces, from 1993-1996. After completing his Hart Fellowship, Eldad completed a medical degree at Tufts University.
