Hsien-Jay Lee
is working with Freedom Foundation in Bangalore, India, as a 2004-05 Hart Fellow. Jay is working with Freedom Foundation's community outreach programming to assess the effects of different care environments on orphaned children.

Jay graduated from Duke in 2004 with a double-major in philosophy and public policy studies. In the summer of 2002, Jay received a grant to travel to China, where he studied disparities in urban and rural development. In the fall of 2003, he built on this experience by writing an extensive research paper on China's new Western Development Strategy. Since 2001, Jay has been the lead singer, lyricist, and songwriter for a socio-political rock band and, in 2002, organized a benefit concert for a local organization focused on HIV/AIDS. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and is interested in pursuing a career in international development policy.
