Halfway There -- an update on the Hart Fellows' research experience

In the past six months, Seyward Darby has traveled to nearly all the Eastern European countries, Cassie Phillips has taken part in Cambodian festivals and traditions, and Brian Wright has spent days on islands and fishing boats in the Philippines. But it's not all fun and games for the Hart Fellows, who, now midway through their fellowships, are getting their research service-learning (RSL) projects off the ground. Dispersed around the globe, the three 2007 graduates are working to complete and present their projects to their community partners before they come home this summer, all the while enjoying opportunities to travel and learn more about the world. The Duke Global Health Institute and the Hart Fellows Program Partner to Offer One Hart Fellowship in Global Health for 2008-2009

The Hart Fellows Program and the Duke Global Health Institute have partnered to develop one Hart Fellowship focused on Global Health that will pilot in 2008-2009. This Fellowship will be fully-funded by the Duke Global Health Institute.

In addition to the usual Hart Fellows Program requirements, the Hart Fellow in Global Health will:

(1)  Be placed at a field site connected with the Duke Global Health Institute's current research, fieldwork and/or service initiatives (for the usual Fellowship period of ten months, from July 2008 to May 2009).
Duke Global Health Institute and Hart Fellows Program faculty and staff make the final placement decision.
(2)  Spend two months in residence at the Duke Global Health Institute upon completion of the ten-month field component of the Fellowship.
This paid two-month Research Associate position will afford the returning Fellow the opportunity to integrate his/her community- based field research project into the Duke Global Health Institute's research agenda.

If you wish to be considered for the 2008-2009 Hart Fellowship in Global Health, you must complete the Supplement to the main application.

Please note that by completing the Supplement, you are asking to be considered for the Global Health designation within the Hart Fellows Program. You will therefore be considered for all available 2008-2009 Hart Fellowships, not just the Hart Fellowship in Global Health.

Applications for the 2008-2009 Hart Fellows Program (including the Hart Fellowship in Global Health) are now closed.
