All heads turn and school children crowd forward excitedly, hoping
to catch a first glimpse of the bride in all her finery. She descends
from her house, preceded by an attendant in traditional garments
carrying a gong. Three maids of honor follow in her wake. Her bright
green dress is interwoven with golden threads. Orchids adorn her
hair, and gold bracelets glisten in the sunlight from her ankles,
wrists and arm. A tiara sparkles upon her head. Quite a vision indeed.

Homecoming
Ah, Poipet! A chaotic place, described by my Lonely Planet as the
armpit of Cambodia. The contrast is great as you cross over from
Thailand. A jumble of new casinos elbow in among rickety wooden
houses. The road is a dusty mess of dirt and broken asphalt. Signs
warn that the Thai government takes no responsibility for your health,
money or life should you choose to leave its friendly kingdom to
