The Goals of the Center
- Facilitate the continuation of existing demographic and biodemographic research projects, develop new projects for possible funding and assist with the development of projects through the Duke Population Research Institute (DuPRI), which will provide PPARC and other involved centers with an intellectual framework for further collaborative efforts within and beyond Duke.
- Make a substantive contribution to the development and provision of important data sets in the field of aging research and make these available for further analysis by researchers around the world.
- Disseminate information about PPARC’s NIA-supported research for purposes of further research, possible collaborations and demographic training/teaching, through a website and other means – such as developing and maintaining relationships with reporters, science writers and communicators who can assist the Center in publicizing its research results.
- As appropriate, provide support for MPP students who plan to get further training in Demography, as well as support for Ph.D. students in Public Policy and Demography.
