The Institute for Homeland Security Solutions (IHSS), a research consortium between RTI International, Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the North Carolina Military Foundation, is pleased to announce the publication of four new research briefs. IHSS research briefs synthesize the state of the knowledge and research in discrete areas in the social and behavioral sciences relating to homeland security.

Protecting National Security and Privacy: Approaches of New Administrations in the U.S. and Europe. In celebration of Data Privacy Day 2009, The Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, along with Intel Corporation, hosted a Panel Discussion on The Future of Privacy and National Security. Participants included leading experts from the United States Departments of Homeland Security, Justice and State, the European Commission, the Council of European Union, and privacy experts from the private sector and academia.
