Ethics in the Professions Series Symposium: Torture & Interrogation Have We Gone Too Far?

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill September 13, 2008. The aim of this symposium is to explore the ethical issues raised by the methods of interrogation practiced by the U.S. government. The second day of our program features distinguished speakers addressing this timely topic from perspectives and disciplines ranging from psychology, law, philosophy and government. (more)

HSDEC Now Accepting Applications for Summer-Fall 2008 Interns

HSDEC has been recently approved to continue the HSDEC intern program through summer and fall 2008. We anticipate having several positions available in Colorado Springs and San Antonio at present. (more)

CETIS Research Assistant Positions

The Center for Terrorism and Intelligence Studies (CETIS), an independent division of the Akribis Group, is a research center dedicated to identifying, better comprehending, and accurately assessing the present and future security threats stemming from a variety of violence-prone extremists and their enablers. UNC To Head Homeland Security Center of Excellence

A consortium led by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill has won a nationwide competition to run a new Center of Excellence on Natural Disasters, Coastal Infrastructure, and Emergency Management. The new Center, which will be co-led by Jackson State University, will conduct research and develop educational programs focusing on the mitigating the effects of and responding to coastal storms and other natural disasters. Duke University and the Renaissance Computing Institute are part of the consortium. (more)
