The Process

Each year, usually in the late Fall, we send out letters to faculty members whose area of expertise is in national and international security and we ask them to nominate suitable candidates.  We also post announcements on the web. Any interested graduate student who meets our requirements is welcome to seek nomination from one of his/her professors. The deadline for application is usually early April. Selections are made by a Faculty Committee in late April and invitations are sent out in early May. The conference is held in early to mid-September, sometimes in Durham and sometimes in Chapel Hill, over a one and a half or two day period. All expenses for the speakers are paid.
