How the Speakers' Bureau Works      Speaker Topics      K-12

The "Speakers' Program on Issues of National and International Security" is designed to make available to the local community the expertise and enthusiasm of the many college professors and retired professionals who constitute our membership. The Triangle Institute for Security Studies provides, at no cost, faculty and other specialists to offer timely information on issues of international security. In the post-Cold War world, news concerning international security can be bewildering, complex, and overwhelming, yet few areas demand more informed analysis and discussion by thoughtful and informed citizens.

Each year we assemble a group of qualified speakers who are willing to speak on foreign policy and the international security issues of the day. We take a broad view of international security and welcome a diversity of subjects and perspectives. We send out our annual brochure to community groups and schools in the Triangle area and beyond. This provides a list of speakers who have agreed to participate in the program in the coming year. We then help to schedule events and provide a small honorarium for the speaker.Through this program we have reached out to, amongst others, members of the Rotary and Civitan Clubs, Women's Clubs, American Veterans Association, UN Association, high school and middle school students, community colleges, and the historically black colleges and universities of North Carolina. The program makes available to the community the expertise and enthusiasm of faculty members and professionals alike and has helped to bring the Triangle's academic and community circles closer together.
