List AmeriCorps
Under an agreement with AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps alumni
accepted into the Duke MPP Program are eligible for a fellowship that surpasses
the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.
- For two-year MPP students, the AmeriCorps fellowship awards a minimum of $10,000 per year through a combination of tuition assistance and payment for a teaching, research, or graduate assistantship.
- AmeriCorps alumni accepted into joint or concurrent degree programs at Duke may receive a $4,000 minimum tuition fellowship. Students must spend one year in the Duke MPP program before starting a joint degree curriculum in law, environment, business, medical, divinity or other professional fields.
The fellowships described above represent the minimum awards. Applicants will receive full consideration for additional, merit-based tuition assistance based on the strength of their application.
Returning Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and Teach for America (TFA)
Returning Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and Teach for America (TFA) alumni
accepted into the Duke MPP Program are eligible for a fellowship. In recognition
of the fact that RPCVs and TFA alumni usually are coming from jobs that
pay much less than the private sector, fellowship amounts will increase
to the following, starting in fall 2007:
- For two-year MPP students who are RPCVs or TFA alumni, the fellowship awards a minimum of $12,600 per year. The fellowship combines tuition assistance with payment for a teaching, research, graduate, or community service assistantship.
- RPCVs or TFA alumni accepted into joint/concurrent degree programs at Duke are eligible for a $12,000 minimum fellowship. Students must spend one year in the Duke MPP program before starting a joint degree curriculum in law, environment, business, medical, divinity and other professional fields.
The fellowships described above represent the minimum awards. Applicants will receive full consideration for additional, merit-based tuition assistance based on the strength of their application. Please note: Under our agreements with Peace Corps, Teach for America, and AmeriCorps, we do not offer application fee waivers due to the level of guaranteed tuition fellowships offered to accepted applicants.

"What I love most about Durham is that the community has a really authentic desire to address social problems... I think it’s rare that you see such a community-based drive to do better. Also, I love the arts community here. It’s got such a funky, activist vibe."
