PPS ’07
Katherine Tiedemann is an associate at the New America Foundation, a Washington, D.C., think tank where she researches current and historical foreign policy issues.
Katie Tobin is teaching fifth-grade science in Denver as a Teach for America member and describes the experience as wonderful and challenging. The PPS major and Hart Leadership Program were invaluable in preparing her for teaching.

Karen Gereffi is in graduate school in Atlanta, Ga., and organizing a charity fashion show with Communities in Schools of Atlanta.
Evan Shoop is working in Washington, D.C., as a legislative assistant for U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas). She handles immigration, homeland security, illegal narcotics, law enforcement/judiciary and telecommunications.
Amy Wyron is living and working in La Paz, Bolivia, doing business development for an IT consulting firm.

Steve Smith is a U.S. Army 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry, and is fighting in Iraq.

Logan Allin lives in Manhattan and works for EMC as a partner in its global services group.
Julia Bloom has started a doctoral program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, concentrating on quantitative policy analysis in education.
Emily Holt finished her MPP at Georgetown in May and is now working at Abt Associates in the social and economic policy division, working on housing and community revitalization.
Erica M. Jackson is a second-year law student at Emory University School of Law and received her MPH from Yale University in 2006. She plans to practice in the private health law sector.
Dori Robau is a general assignment reporter at WPTV, the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Kristin Carlucci graduated with an MA in strategic studies and international economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS in May 2007, and works at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Neely Shah graduated from Georgetown Law School in ’05, practiced as a corporate associate at a law firm for two years and has recently taken an in-house counsel position at State Street Bank in Boston.

Alisa Nave has taken a leave of absence as a corporate litigator to serve as Hillary Clinton’s Southern Nevada political director. She hopes to be there through November 2008 and beyond.
Jennifer Stapleton joined a new law firm within the past year, McDonald Hopkins LLC, as a corporate attorney specializing in middle market mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance and private equity in Cleveland, Ohio.

Brett Ethridge received his masters in international finance from the University of Denver two years ago, and now he and his wife are building a network marketing business with a company called USANA Health Sciences, educating people on the importance of proper health and nutrition.
PPS ’99
Jeff Horwich hosts the public affairs variety show “In the Loop” at Minnesota Public Radio in St. Paul. This fall, the show began its first fully staffed, weekly broadcast season.

Suzanne Elliott Armstrong was recently promoted to executive vice president of resource development and strategic marketing for Dress for Success Worldwide, an international nonprofit organization that helps disadvantaged women achieve economic independence. She is located in New York City.
Andrew Bell is back at Duke studying for a masters in theological studies at the Divinity School. His wife, Betsy Jordan-Bell (T ’99) is working toward her MPH in nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Serena Rhodie Smith is a communications assistant at Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera, Calif. She resides in Fresno with her husband Dwayne.

Sophie Schmitt works in Bank of America’s wealth and investment management group in Boston.

Jason Fedo was recently named shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, Pa. He is a securities litigator and has two daughters, Jessica, 2 years, and Brooke, 7 months.
James E. Griffith joined Foley & Lardner as senior counsel in April 2007, after almost seven years with McDermott, Will & Emery. His practice remains focused on commercial litigation, trademark and copyright litigation, and other intellectual property matters.
Hanly A. Ingram is a partner at Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC in Lexington, Ky., and is a member of the firm’s litigation and intellectual property departments, focusing on business, constitutional and intellectual property litigation.
Marc Spooner was recently promoted to vice president of provider contracting at Tufts Health Plan in Massachusetts.

John Clendinen been asked to author an article for the James Madison Institute, a public policy think tank in Florida where he was director of communications.
Ian James published Ninety Miles: Cuban Journeys in the Age of Castro in November 2006 (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers).
James Mackler has transferred from Army Aviation to JAG and is attending Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga.

Deborah Katz Solomon published an article titled, “From Antitrust Lawyer to Executive Coach” in the June 2007 issue of the ABA’s Law Practice Management Magazine. Deborah is the founder and principal of Acuity Legal Consulting LLC, which provides professional development, leadership, and marketing coaching for lawyers at all levels of experience. Deborah and her husband Marc live in Arlington, Va.

Todd Holland completed a masters degree in international affairs from Johns Hopkins (SAIS) and accepted a position with Teach for America as a vice president of operations for the teacher preparation team. At a recent Clinton Foundation event, Teach for America announced its plans for international expansion, and Todd has his eye on “Teach for Chile.”

John Conway was elected Attorney General in Kentucky on Nov. 6 and will begin his term in January 2008. He defeated Republican Stan Lee 61 percent to 39 percent.

Jill Lavigne has a new joint appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry as researcher in health services research and development and as assistant professor in psychiatry and community medicine.
Theodore (Ted) A. Smith serves as assistant professor of ethics and society and director of the Program in Theology and Practice at Vanderbilt Divinity School. This spring saw publication of his first book, The New Measures: A Theological History of Democratic Practice (Cambridge, 2007).

Mike Bayer has been in business affairs for past few years at Paramount Pictures, and is now heading to Image Entertainment in the same capacity.
Larry Glusman has been named a shareholder at the law firm of Friebert, Finerty & St. John, S.C., in Milwaukee, Wisc. There, John is focusing on commercial lending, real estate and creditors' rights.
Dave Simon married Marla Leckerman in November 2006. They and their three daughters live in Dresher, Pa. Dave heads the Simon Investment Consulting Group of Wachovia Securities in Conshohocken, Pa. and is a former president of the Duke Club of Philadelphia.
Paul Whichard serves as program manager for Command Control Communications and Intelligence in the Department of Defense Counter-Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office (CNTPO) in Dahlgren, Va.

Jon Simmons received his MBA in international business and financial strategy from Indiana University in May and is now a senior consultant for Bearing Point. His oldest son, Ben, is a member of the Trinity Class of 2011.
Christine Wolff has been with Dimension Data for eight years, and is now vice president of sales development for the Americas. She is responsible for sales effectiveness, which includes professional development and strategic account planning. She lives in the Boston area with her husband, Jon, and two children: Jack, 14, and Caroline, 13.

Mike Mitchell works at banking software start-up FNC Inc. in Mississippi. FNC Inc. was started out of the University of Mississippi and now employs 300 people. The company processes and scores appraisal and other residential property data for most of the large U.S. banks.
Susan L. Trevarthen, A.I.C.P., received her JD and MRP from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1991. She lives with her husband, Camilo Mejia, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she is a member of the law firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole and Boniske, P.L. She chairs the six-attorney municipal land use and zoning law division of the firm.
Steve Wray was named executive director of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, a nonprofit public policy and economic development think tank in Philadelphia, Pa.

Greg Bosch is CEO of PuriCore, a global life sciences company focused on developing and commercializing proprietary products that safely, effectively and naturally kill contagious pathogens. Last year Greg received the Life Sciences CEO of the Year award at the Eastern Technology Council’s Enterprise Awards. Greg and his family live in the Philadelphia, Pa., area.
Mary Morgan is legal counsel at the North Carolina Community Foundation in Raleigh, N.C.
PPS ’81
Craig Justice planted a vineyard in April (www.bluemerlewinery.com) in San Diego, Calif. and has come face-to-face with two policy issues. One is the allocation of water resources during drought. The other issue is a proposal before the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to allow boutique winemakers to operate a tasting room and make sales on residential property.
Terri L. Mascherin was named by the National Law Journal as one of the 50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America. The Journal cited, among other things, Terri’s successful defense of former Illinois Gov. George Ryan’s commutation orders clearing death row in Illinois.
PPS ’80
Amy Bruins works in the policy department of the Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. She recently completed an MS in national resource strategy at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at National Defense University, where she studied national security issues. She looks forward to continuing her career at the Department of Defense. She resides in Alexandria, Va.

Laura Gigante has moved on from a long career in shopping center management and is now a student in the Accelerated BSN program at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
